Moisturizing Bath Bombs
If you’re anything like me then winter is a TOUGH time of year when every part of your body feels itchy and dry, so these ultra moisturizing bath bombs are a god send!
I am currently sitting at JFK airport waiting for my connecting flight home. Goodbye Puerto Rico, goodbye warm weather, goodbye beaches, delicious food, palm trees and happiness!
We have a couple of family reunions each year and this one was in San Juan. I had no idea I could fall in love with a place so quickly!!! I mean those beaches!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!
Unfortunately my reality is cold and gloomy and snowy :'(
(I swear I am sitting here pouting and I can only imagine what those around me must be thinking…)
My hands and body which were incredibly soft and healthy feeling a couple of hours ago are already beginning to chap and feel dry and I haven’t even left the airport yet!!!
So all I can think about (apart from catching a flight back to Puerto Rico) is immersing myself in a luxurious bath and dropping a couple of these heavenly bath bombs which I make sure to always keep around.
Not only do they fizz beautifully but they also smell like the most luxurious spa and leave your skin feeling so incredibly silky and smooth! Just like a baby’s bottom, I promise!
And I cannot stress enough the importance of dry brushing!!! You don’t need a fancy brush, I purchased mine at Walmart for a couple of dollars and have felt such a significant difference. It is important to dry brush your skin towards your heart a couple of times a week but preferably once a day before your luxurious bath or your shower.
This one from amazon got a TON of amazing reviews and has a double side that gives you more control over the kind of feeling you wish to get. It’s on my holiday wish list 😉 (along with my dream kitchen aid….sigh… oh to have endless amounts of kitchen space and money!)
Anyways, enough with my rambling. Let’s get back to this INCREDIBLE and EASY recipe.
Keep in mind that these bath bombs are quite similar to the lush bath bombs but since you have full control over the ingredients you add, you can increase the level of moisturization, scent, fizz, etc. depending on your mood.
So here’s all you will need!
- 1/2 cup epsom salts –Epsom Salt
- 1/2 citric acid –Spicy World Citric Acid
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 tsp water
- a couple of drops of sweet orange essential oil (or essential oil of choice)- Anjou Essential Oils
- 1/4 cup coconut oil melted
- 1 tbs vegetable glycerine-NOW Solutions Glycerine Vegetable
- 1/2 tbs sweet almond oil
- 2 capsules vitamine E
Mix the wet ingredients all together in a small bowl.
In a separate bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together.
Then mix the wet in with the dry little by little but mixing VERY well quickly in order to prevent the fizzing effect.
I had these mini cupcake silicone trays that were the perfect size for my bath bombs but really you can use just about any kind of mould you would like. I am looking forward to Valentine’s Day to find heart shaped moulds, those will be super cute 🙂
You will know that the bath bombs mix is ready when you can form a shape with your hand when you mix.
Place the mixture into the moulds and make sure that it is tightly packed in.
Refrigerate for 30 mins and you are good to go!
Enjoy your bath and don’t let the cold keep you from being lusciously moisturized 🙂
