Charcoal Clay Mask
It’s Sunday again 🙁
Is it just me or do the weekends tend to pass faster and faster these days? And not to mention that the holidays are right around the corner and before we know it it’s NEW YEARS!!! How insane!?
Anyways, I find that the best way to end a much too short weekend is with a bit of pampering and what better way to pamper yourself and get ready for the upcoming week than with a face mask!
I discovered betonite clay recently and fell in love!! I feel that it makes SUCH A HUGE difference in the health of my skin. Especially as I get ever closer to 30, I see the importance of really taking care of my skin and body. This mask calls for betonite clay and activated charcoal. These 2 ingredients are incredible.
I always have activated charcoal pills at home in case of food poisoning. For my face mask I used to purchase the Origins Clear Improvements charcoal mask, which I really enjoyed but after making my own mask I see that my homemade version is just as good and a fraction of the price!
The benefits of activated charcoal are endless as well! Some of the benefits include making your pores smaller, taking care of oily skin, treating acne prone skin, deep cleaning your pores and getting rid of toxins.
I bought the pharmacy charcoal pills and simply break open 1 and add it to my mask- super easy. As for the betonite clay I purchased this one from amazon and have been super happy with it.
Here are the best ways to use activated charcoal for the health of your skin and hair. Make pores smaller and cleaner. Take care of oily skin. Treat acne. Deep clean your skin. Soothe and heal bites, cuts and skin irritations. Rid your hair of toxins. – Incredible right?!
The most important thing I realized though is that you have to make sure to have a mixing spoon and add the water little by little and mix quickly and well so that the clay and charcoal turn into a thick paste without clumps. Some reviews that I read said that the users had some trouble mixing but I think they just added too much water too fast and everything clumped up.
I like to use a brush when I apply a mask to my face but didn’t want to spend much money on one. I purchased an E.L.F. foundation brush that was on sale (about 2$ or so) at Walmart and it does a perfect job.
So all you have to do is take a tsp of betonite clay, add 1 capsule of activated charcoal and add water slowly.
Make sure to mix very well using a spoon.
Another option would be to mix the water with apple cider vinegar. The apple cider really clears up your skin and leaves a glowing effect.
However, if you have very sensitive skin, you might want to test out a small dab first an see if you any reaction occurs.
1 tsp Betonite Clay- Bentonite Clay Powder, Natural Organic Facial Mask
1 capsule activated charcoal
a little water to mix very slowly with spoon to avoid clumps
I hope your mini spa evening leaves you feeling pampered and happy and ready to take on the week to come! 😉
